A classically shaped, Grain Flow Forged tour wedge that rewards aggressive play with exceptional consistency.
The Big Picture
The Mizuno Pro T-1 is the first wedge to carry the "Mizuno Pro" branding since 2014, and the name change is not just cosmetic. By folding their wedge line under the Pro umbrella alongside the Pro 241, 243, and S-3 irons, Mizuno has streamlined their product cycle and created a clearer path for golfers building a matched set from approach clubs through scoring clubs. The T-1 replaces the T24 as the blade-style offering, while the companion T-3 provides a shallow cavity-back alternative for players who want a touch more forgiveness.
Three Mizuno Pro wedges held up against sunset on course
Construction is pure Mizuno: Grain Flow Forged HD from a single billet of 1025 Pure Select Mild Carbon Steel with a copper underlay beneath the chrome finish. That copper layer is the same technology used in the Pro irons, and it is central to the refined feel that defines this wedge. The face features Quad Cut+ Grooves for spin and Hydroflow Micro Grooves that channel moisture away for consistent performance in wet conditions. Six sole grinds (S, M, P, C, V, and X) are available across the loft range, giving fitters and players a wide menu to match individual swing types and course conditions.
The T-1 is available from 46 to 60 degrees in three finishes for right-handers: Blue Ion, Black Ion, and Soft White Satin. Left-handers get the Soft White Satin only. Stock shafts are the True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400 for the White Satin and Blue Ion, while the Black Ion gets a KBS Hi Rev 115 in black PVD for a blacked-out look. MSRP is $180 per club.
At Address
The T-1 is a compact, teardrop-shaped wedge that earns its "Pro" label visually. The leading edge is straighter than the T24, with just enough curvature at the heel and toe to avoid looking rigid. The topline features the same beveling carried over from the T24, which I appreciated because the T22 before it always looked a bit too squared off for my taste. Behind the ball, the T-1 frames the shot cleanly without excess material, and the sole sits flush to the ground with a slight amount of lead-edge give that helps with alignment.
In the bag, the design is restrained and elegant. The script "Mizuno Pro" across the top of the back is the focal point, with the unfilled running bird logo sitting subtly below. The back panel varies by finish: the White Satin has a matte texture while the Blue Ion and Black Ion feature a gloss treatment. That Blue Ion finish deserves special mention. It is a striking glacial blue that stops you in your tracks, and it is one of the best-looking wedge finishes on the market right now.
The sole grind markings are clearly stamped on the bottom of the club, which is a small but useful detail when you are reaching into the bag on the course.
Sound & Feel
The 1025 Pure Select Mild Carbon Steel with copper underlay delivers what you would expect from a forged Mizuno. Impact on center produces a medium-soft feel with a quiet "thud" that sits below average in volume. It is not buttery soft in the way that word sometimes gets thrown around, but it is noticeably softer and more muted than cast wedges from other manufacturers. The copper underlay adds a warmth to the feedback that makes each strike feel deliberate and precise.
Close-up of wedge face showing milled groove pattern
Mishits firm up clearly. The sound turns duller and the vibration pattern shifts through the hands, giving you honest feedback about where the ball met the face. The signal is moderate rather than sharp, so you need to pay attention if you want to know exactly whether you caught it slightly toward the heel or toe. For a compact tour wedge, the feedback is appropriate: enough information to learn from without being punishing.
One point worth noting is that the T-1 rewards a more aggressive swing. The softer feel and quieter sound can create a subconscious urge to swing harder to match the expected sensation with the intended distance. I found myself naturally opening the face more and committing to the shot with more speed, which produced better results than a tentative approach.
Performance
Launch & Spin
Spin rates were solid, with full-swing numbers around 7,500 rpm from the 56-degree model. The Quad Cut+ Grooves, which feature a tighter groove pattern than previous generations, do a credible job of creating consistent bite across different conditions. In wet conditions, the Hydroflow Micro Grooves channeled moisture away effectively, and I did not notice a significant drop-off in spin compared to dry conditions.
Launch sits on the lower end for a modern wedge, which suits the target player profile. The T-1 is designed for golfers who create their own trajectory through technique rather than relying on the club to do it for them. If you like to flight the ball, you will find the T-1 cooperative. Hitting the ball up or down and shaping it left or right felt natural and controllable.
The consistency of the launch angles stood out. Across a set of full-swing shots, the variation in launch was only about 0.5 degrees, which is remarkably tight. That consistency translated directly into predictable carry distances, with five out of six shots landing within a yard of each other. That level of repeatability is exactly what you want from a scoring club.
The 60-degree model showed slightly more launch variation at around 2.5 degrees, which is not unusual for a lob wedge where contact precision becomes more critical. It is something to be aware of if the 60-degree is your primary scoring club.
Dispersion & Shot Shape
Shot control is where these compact wedges excel. Both opening and closing the face felt intuitive, and the T-1 responded well to different trajectory requests. The six sole grind options provide genuine versatility for different playing styles and conditions.
Three color finishes displayed together in black blue and silver
The S grind, available in the lower lofts, is a full-sole workhorse for square-face play. The M grind offers moderate relief for players who want to manipulate the face occasionally without sacrificing too much stability. The X grind at 60 degrees is outstanding for low-bounce players, with an aggressive relief pattern that lets you squeeze into the tightest gaps between ball and turf. It plays like a Vokey T-grind in terms of versatility on tight lies, but I found it noticeably easier to use from bunkers, likely due to a slightly more rearward camber that resists digging into soft sand.
The P grind adds extra bounce for steeper swingers or soft course conditions, while the C and V grinds provide aggressive heel-toe relief for high-tariff greenside shots. The range of options means there is a genuine solution for nearly every playing style, which is not always the case with wedge lineups.
Forgiveness is modest, as expected from a blade-style wedge. The T-1 is not going to save your thin or fat shots the way a cavity-back design would. It is a precision instrument that rewards good technique and punishes lazy swings.

Verdict
The Mizuno Pro T-1 is a beautifully crafted tour wedge that delivers exceptional consistency, honest feedback, and enough sole grind options to fit virtually any skilled player's needs. The Grain Flow Forged construction with copper underlay produces a feel that few competitors can match, and the tight launch-angle consistency translates into the kind of distance control that shaves strokes around the greens.
It does not break new ground compared to the T24 it replaces, and the spin rates, while good, do not lead the category. Players who want maximum greenside spin may find more stopping power from competitors like the Cleveland RTZ. The $180 price tag puts it in direct competition with the Titleist SM10, and Mizuno will need the feel advantage and the stunning finish options to win converts.
For the low-to-mid handicap player who values precision, consistency, and that unmistakable Mizuno forged feedback, the T-1 is one of the best wedge options available. It rewards committed, aggressive wedge play and looks beautiful doing it.
