About Under Par Reviews

Golf media has a problem. The biggest equipment review sites depend on manufacturer relationships, ad revenue, and early access to stay in business. That doesn't make them dishonest — but it does make them cautious. You'll notice most mainstream reviews land somewhere between "pretty good" and "great," and the truly critical take almost never gets published.

Under Par Reviews exists because I wanted something different.

I'm Troy, and I started this site because I was tired of reading reviews that felt more like press releases than honest assessments. Along with a small team, we test every product on the course — not in a lab, not from a press kit, and not from a single range session squeezed in before a deadline.

Every review on this site is based on extended, real-world testing. We play the gear. We live with it. And then we tell you exactly what we think, whether or not the manufacturer would be happy about it.

What makes Under Par Reviews different:

  • No sponsored rankings. Our scores are never influenced by advertising relationships. A 9.0 / 10 is earned, not purchased.
  • No pay-to-play. We don't accept payment from manufacturers in exchange for reviews or placement.
  • Real-world testing. Every product is tested on the course, in real playing conditions, over an extended period — not just a quick hit on a launch monitor.
  • Honest verdicts. If something doesn't perform, we say so. If it's the best in its class, we say that too. The point is to help you make a better buying decision, not to make everyone feel good.

This site is built for golfers who want straight answers before they spend their money. If that sounds like you, welcome — you're in the right place.
