A purist's blade with nothing to hide -- no insert, no alignment clutter, just 303 stainless steel milled to perfection and a Deep Diamond face that makes distance control feel instinctive.

The Big Picture

Toulon Golf was founded by Sean Toulon, who spent over a decade at TaylorMade helping shape their putter and wedge programs. When he launched his own brand, the mission was unapologetically narrow: build the best-feeling, best-performing milled putters possible, full stop. The Hollywood H1 is the purest expression of that philosophy -- a classic heel-shafted blade milled from premium 303 stainless steel with a Deep Diamond face pattern and almost no alignment aids whatsoever.

In a putter market dominated by inserts, polymer fills, and increasingly complex alignment systems, the Hollywood H1 is a deliberate step backward in complexity and a step forward in craftsmanship. It earned the top blade putter rating in Today's Golfer's 2026 putter test, scoring 85.71% across seven testers hitting over 100 putts with each model. That is not a subjective opinion from one writer -- it is the result of a rigorous, multi-tester evaluation. And for a blade putter with essentially zero alignment aids, that result speaks volumes about how good this putter actually is on the greens.

At roughly $399, the Hollywood H1 sits in premium territory. But for golfers who value feel, sound, and traditional craftsmanship, this is the kind of putter you keep in the bag for a decade.

At Address

The first thing you notice about the Hollywood H1 is what is not there. The head is finished in an all-black colorway -- black head, black shaft, black grip -- with no alignment lines, no contrasting paint fills, and no graphics beyond a single, subtle white dot on the top line. It is striking in its restraint.

This is a true blade profile in the classic Ping Anser mold. The head is compact, traditional, and meticulously clean. The tri-sole design on the bottom creates three distinct facets that help the putter sit perfectly square at address, which partially compensates for the absence of alignment aids. Toulon has kept branding to an absolute minimum -- there is no commercial clutter to distract you.

The lack of alignment features is a bold choice, and it will not work for everyone. I expected it to bother me, but what I found was the opposite: removing those visual cues actually encouraged me to trust my stroke mechanics and focus on the start line rather than obsessing over whether a line on my putter matched a line on the ball. It felt liberating, and after a few holes, I was starting putts more consistently on my intended line.

That said, if you rely heavily on alignment lines for confidence, this putter may not be for you. It demands trust in your setup and stroke.

Sound & Feel

This is the Hollywood H1's calling card, and where Toulon's milling expertise is most apparent. The Deep Diamond face pattern produces a soft yet crisp feel at impact -- there is immediate feedback on every stroke, but it never feels harsh or clicky. The sound is muted and refined, somewhere between a gentle thud and a clean tick. It is the kind of impact sensation that lets you intuitively gauge how hard you hit the putt without having to think about it.

I was genuinely impressed by the consistency across the face. Putts struck slightly off-center -- toward the toe or heel -- still rolled smoothly and stayed on target. The 303 stainless steel construction, without any insert, provides an unfiltered connection between your hands and the ball. Every putt gives you honest, immediate information about the quality of your strike, and that feedback loop makes it easier to develop a repeatable sense of pace over time.

For golfers who have spent years with insert putters and wonder what they are missing, the Hollywood H1 is a revelation. The feel is not just different -- it is more informative. You learn something from every putt.

Performance

Roll Quality & Distance Control

The Deep Diamond milling pattern is not purely aesthetic. Those diamond-shaped cuts across the face help the ball get into a true end-over-end roll quickly, reducing skid and promoting consistency on every putt regardless of pace. On the practice green, I noticed that putts came off the face with a predictable speed and rolled out smoothly, without the hop-and-check behavior you sometimes get with firmer-faced putters.

Distance control was outstanding. The combination of the soft 303 stainless steel, the face milling, and the overall head weight created a putting experience where I could almost feel the distance in my hands before the ball left the face. Lag putting from 20-plus feet improved noticeably -- my leave distances tightened up, and three-putts became rare.

Inside five feet, the Hollywood H1 performed beautifully. The stability of the head through impact, combined with the tri-sole design that keeps the face square at address, made short putts feel straightforward. Even without alignment aids, I was consistently starting the ball on line.

Adjustability

The Hollywood H1 features adjustable sole weights that allow you to customize head weight without altering the putter's balance characteristics. This is a thoughtful inclusion that lets fitters dial in the swing weight to match your stroke tempo and green speed preferences. It adds a layer of customization that elevates the putter beyond a simple off-the-rack blade.

Verdict

The Toulon Hollywood H1 is not for everyone, and it does not pretend to be. It is a purist's putter -- a blade built for golfers who value feel above all else and who trust their stroke enough to play without alignment crutches. But for those golfers, this is one of the finest blade putters I have used.

Strengths: Exceptional feel and sound from the Deep Diamond milled 303 stainless steel face. Outstanding distance control and roll quality. Beautiful, minimalist design with premium craftsmanship. Adjustable sole weights for customization. Tri-sole design promotes square setup.

Weaknesses: The near-complete lack of alignment aids is a polarizing choice -- it will boost some golfers' confidence and undermine others'. The all-black finish, while stunning, shows fingerprints. Premium price may be a barrier when compared to insert putters that offer more forgiveness.

Who it is for: Low-to-mid handicappers who value feel and feedback over maximum forgiveness. Traditionalists and equipment enthusiasts who appreciate milled craftsmanship. Golfers who consistently strike near the center of the face and want the most honest feedback possible for dialing in distance control. If you have been putting with an insert mallet and feel like something is missing in your connection to the ball, the Hollywood H1 might be the answer.
