The PXG 0317 T represents something of a unicorn in the iron market: a hollow-body design that genuinely belongs in the players iron category rather than masquerading as one. It is the most forgiving model in PXG's "sharpshooter" 0317 family, which also includes the 0317 ST muscleback blade and the 0317 CB cavity back. All three are designed to blend seamlessly into combo sets, and the T adds 11 percent more MOI than the CB and 14 percent more than the ST without dramatically altering the external dimensions.
The "T" designation used to live in PXG's 0311 game-improvement line, but it has graduated to the 0317 family -- a signal that PXG views this as a serious players iron, not a distance-chasing hollow body. At Address
The 0317 T looks like a proper players iron behind the ball. The topline is slightly wider than the ST blade and CB, but only marginally -- you would be hard-pressed to notice the difference without a side-by-side comparison. PXG's signature square toe is present, and the milled detailing on the back is split between a tight mill on the upper half (almost smooth at a glance) and a coarser pattern on the lower half. The contrast is visually appealing and gives the iron a premium, handcrafted appearance.

The blade length is compact. Offset is minimal. From the playing position, there is nothing that gives away the hollow-body construction. This iron looks small, confident, and workable -- exactly what a better player wants to see.
Sound & Feel
This is where the SCOR polymer makes its presence known. The 0317 T does not have the explosive, trampoline-like pop that characterizes PXG's 0311 P irons. Instead, the feel is more controlled, almost approaching the sensation of a solid-body forged iron. The sound is present but not hot -- a firm, authoritative impact that conveys precision rather than power.
I will be honest: compared to some fully forged competitors, the 0317 T does not quite reach the same level of buttery softness on center strikes. The maraging steel face and hollow construction introduce a firmness that pure forging does not have. It feels good, but it is not going to make you forget what a Mizuno MP feels like. Where it excels is in maintaining a consistent feel across the face -- mishits do not punish you with jarring vibration, which is remarkable for an iron this compact.
Performance
Ball Speed & Distance
The 0317 T is not a distance iron, and it is not trying to be. Carry distances are appropriate for its players iron positioning, and ball speed is adequate without being explosive. With a 6-iron, I was seeing total distances in the 200-205 yard range, which is right where a 32-degree players iron should land. The maraging steel face provides enough energy transfer to keep you competitive in a fitting bay, but the SCOR polymer deliberately restrains face deflection to prioritize spin and consistency over raw speed.

Here is where the 0317 T differentiates itself from the 0311 line. Launch is lower and more penetrating than what you get from a typical hollow-body iron. Spin is higher -- a deliberate design choice that gives better players the control they need for precision approaches. With the 6-iron, spin rates settled in the 4,000-4,500 rpm range, and those numbers remained remarkably consistent even on mishits.
The higher spin and lower launch combination produces a ball flight that better players will appreciate: controlled, predictable, and workable. You can trust this iron to give you the same trajectory and distance shot after shot, which is ultimately what elite golfers prioritize above all else.
Dispersion & Shot Shape
Forgiveness is the 0317 T's hidden weapon. During my testing, toe strikes only cost 5-10 yards of distance, which is genuinely impressive for a compact players iron. The internal tungsten toe weight keeps the head stable through impact, and the MOI advantage over the CB and ST is tangible. PXG's manufacturing tolerances -- head weights held to plus or minus 1 gram versus the industry norm of 3 grams -- contribute to club-to-club consistency.

The 0317 T placed second overall in competitive players iron testing for accuracy, and that matches my on-course experience. This is an iron that goes where you aim it. Workability is excellent -- draws and fades respond naturally to swing path changes without requiring dramatic manipulation.

The PXG 0317 T is a thoughtfully engineered players iron that successfully brings hollow-body technology into a category traditionally dominated by solid-body forgings. It looks like a blade, feels close to a solid iron, and hides enough forgiveness to make your off days less painful. The SCOR polymer is the key differentiator -- it restrains the typical hollow-body tendencies toward high launch and low spin, delivering instead the controlled, higher-spinning flight that skilled golfers demand.
This is not an iron for everyone. PXG is straightforward about that: most consumers will be better served by the 0311 P. The 0317 T targets golfers who are genuine ball strikers -- low single-digit handicaps and below -- who want the precision of a tour iron with just enough of a safety net to maintain their confidence when the swing is not quite there.
