The Reserve is a handsome bag. The PU leather gives it a clean, modern aesthetic that looks more like something from a high-end luggage brand than a traditional golf bag. The material is smooth, wipes clean easily, and holds up well to scuffing — I noticed minimal wear after several weeks of regular use. Subtle Ping branding keeps things understated, and the available colorways range from classic white and navy to limited-edition vanilla and sky blue options.
The four-way top is spacious enough for a full set, with a top cuff designed to hold a putter in its own dedicated slot. The dividers extend through most of the bag's length, though they do converge slightly at the bottom rather than running fully independent to the base. In practice, this was not an issue — I experienced no club jamming during walking or riding, which is a common complaint with some Hoofer models.
One of the more distinctive design elements is the snap-off pocket system. Several pockets, including the valuables pocket, can be unsnapped and removed entirely if you want a lighter setup or need to send a panel out for embroidery. It is an interesting concept that I suspect most golfers will appreciate more in theory than in practice, but it demonstrates the level of thought Ping put into the Reserve's design.
Sound & Feel
The materials on the Reserve feel genuinely premium. The PU leather handles have a flat profile with fabric backing underneath that sits comfortably in the hand. The magnetic ball pocket closure is satisfying to use — a quiet snap that stays shut without fiddling, yet opens instantly when you need access. The zippers throughout the bag operate smoothly, and the overall construction conveys quality at every touch point.
The straps are nearly identical to the standard Hoofer system, which is a compliment. They are thick, densely padded, and sit comfortably across the shoulders. Ping includes both a double-strap and a single-strap option, so you can configure the bag however you prefer. I walked nine holes with the Reserve loaded with 14 clubs and a full complement of accessories, and the carry experience was excellent. The bag sits well on the back with even weight distribution, and the familiar Hoofer stand mechanism deploys reliably on all terrain types. The aluminum legs have small rubber feet that provide decent grip, though I would have liked to see slightly larger feet given the premium price point.
The umbrella holder is a nice touch — the umbrella feeds through a loop and hangs securely without requiring straps or clips. It is a small detail that makes wet-weather rounds marginally less annoying.
Storage & Organization
The Reserve offers fewer pockets than the standard Hoofer or Hoofer Lite, which is a deliberate trade-off for the sleeker profile. You get a valuables pocket lined with one of the softest materials I have encountered in any golf bag, a zippered rangefinder pocket, a large magnetic ball pocket with a rubber-lined interior, and a generous apparel pocket on the side. There is also a hidden pocket accessed by unsnapping one of the panels, a reservoir pocket in the ball compartment for drinks, and a pen loop and pencil holder.

The magnetic pockets are a standout. The ball pocket in particular uses a magnetic closure with a rubberized interior that feels premium and keeps contents secure without any zipping or fumbling. The cart strap pass-through is present and works as expected, keeping pockets accessible when the bag is mounted on a cart.
Storage is adequate for a round, but if you are someone who carries rain gear, multiple layers, snacks, and an extensive collection of accessories, you may find the Reserve a bit lean compared to full-featured bags. This is a bag for golfers who pack intentionally rather than packing everything.
